A Wudang art troupe of four people from Shiyan city, central China’s Hubei province, gave a performance in Malta on Dec 26 at the 2013 Maltese L-Istrina Campaign which aimed to raising funds for the Malta Community Chest Fund which assists low-income families and individuals, chinawudang.com reported.
Four kung fu masters of the Wudang troupe showed off their skills with their well-known Tai Chi performance which included Tai Chi swordplay, Nine-section whip and Eight Diagrams Palm.
Tai Chi Sword world champion, Chen Yaqiong, and the other performers from Wudang were highlights of the evening and the host of the activity said it was the most amazing performance of the night.
The troupe was led by Tao Hongjia, deputy director-general of the Department of Culture of Hubei Province, and the Maltese President, George Abela, received the visitors after the performance. Cai Jinbiao, China’s Ambassador to Malta, also welcomed the delegation.
The president expressed his gratitude to the Chinese troupe for its contribution to promoting cultural communication between Malta and China, and also for participating in the fundraising event.
