Macheng realizes tourism revenue of 3 b yuan

Macheng, a county-level city in central China’s Hubei province, received a high grade in the evaluation of the Hubei Provincial Bureau of Tourism, cnhubei.com, the website of Hubei Daily, reported on Wednesday .
Macheng has two national 4A tourist attractions and three national 3A tourist attractions, and a total of 2.98 million domestic and overseas tourists visited the city in 2013, generating tourism revenue of 3 billion yuan ($495.6 million).
The evaluation indicated that Macheng city boasts a revolutionary history, and is also known for its beautiful azaleas.
The evaluation team suggested that the city should continue to develop dining facilities, hotels, transportation, shopping, and entertainment, and should also focus on exploiting agri-tourism and rural tourism, and further develop the tourism industry chain.
