Experts approve environmental report of Sanmenxia-Jingmen railway line section

Experts of the Ministry of Environmental Protection's Environment and Engineering Appraisal Center recently held a meeting and approved a report on the environmental impact of the Sanmenxia-Jingmen section of the Mengxi-Huazhong coal transportation railway project connecting the west area of Inner Mongolia and central China.

The report includes details on the impact on the surrounding environment, and experts from the ministry – who had visited the site - offered their technical analysis and suggestions on the project’s location, ecological protection, pollution prevention and control, public participation, social and economic benefits and environmental risks. They agreed that the report conformed to the state's laws and regulations.

The project’s environmental evaluation units have suggested various approaches to minimize the impact on the environment, conforming to requirements concerning ecological protection and adhering to eco-friendly principles.

The Sanmenxia-Jingmen section of the new coal transportation railway stretches 463 kilometers from Sanmenxia, in central China’s Henan province, to Jingmen in Hubei province. It is a double line electrified railway, with total investment of 48.42 billion yuan ($ 8 billion) – including funds aimed to protect the surrounding environmental which reach 603.79 million yuan, or 1.2 percent of the total.
