Visitors flock to Wudang during Spring Festival

A total of 138,800 tourists visited Wudang Mountains in Shiyan city, central China’s Hubei province, during the Spring Festival holiday from Jan 31 to Feb 6 - a year on year increase of 7.85 percent - generating revenue of 87.57 million yuan ($14.44 million), an increase of 8.23 percent, wudangshan.gov.cn reported.
The Wudang Tourism and Economy Special Region and various departments of the tourist attraction increased their efforts concerning management, transportation, the ticketing system, security and other aspects – so as to maintain a high standard of service during the Golden Week.
The tourist attraction has focused on services for large tourist groups, and it added several ticket counters. Wudang also held various Taoist cultural activities, and the Wudang Geological Museum, Yuxu Palace and Tai Chi Lake new area also opened to visitors free of charge.
In addition, visitors attended various folk performances of west Hubei, and bicycle tours around Tai Chi Lake were also popular.
The visitors came from provinces including Hubei, Henan, Shaanxi, Guangdong and Fujian as well as from the city of Shanghai, and more foreign tourist groups visited Wudang Mountains compared to last year.
