During Qingming, or the Pure Brightness Festival, from April 5 to 7, the weather was fine in Wudang Mountains in Shiyan city, Central China’s Hubei province. Many tourists visited Wudang to pay respect to the dead and enjoyed the spring outings with their family members, wudangshan.gov.cn reported.
During the three-day holiday, Wudang tourist attraction received some 89,300 visitors and realized tourism revenue of 46.4 million yuan ($7.49 million), a year-on-year increase of 17.58 percent and 17.87 percent, respectively.
To ensure the security of the tourists, local authorities assigned adequate personnel in various scenic spots, hotels and parking lots. A 24-hour duty system was also conducted during the festival.
According to local authorities, different kinds of tourism promotion strategies have contributed to the popularity of Wudang Mountains, such as an introductory video at Times Square in New York and promotions on CCTV.
