The Tai Chi Theater has involved a total investment of 250 million yuan ($39.95 million) and covers an area of 21,176 square meters. It is the biggest of its kind in the northwest of Hubei province and equipped with cutting-edge intelligent equipment.
The exterior design focused on how to represent tai chi. The delicate fusion between the architecture and the surrounding landscape, environment and culture made the theater a key element in expressing Wudang culture. Seen from above, the theater resembles a huge tai chi symbol, emanating the profound Wudang culture.
There is a big parking lot outside the theater, offering 97 parking spaces, and a huge musical fountain sits in front of the parking lot. The fountain has dozens of nozzles, with the biggest in the center that can spurt water columns dozens of meters high.
The multi-color lighting complements the ever-changing water column patterns to make a breathtaking audio and visual experience. The theater has six floors, two underground and four above the ground, and can house 1,071 people in the audience.
The stage covers an area of 2,000 square meters, and can be divided into a water space performance area, main acting area, and a three-storey lifting stage.
Its modern lighting, electricity and water multimedia technology enables it to host opera, ballet, symphony, folk music, variety shows, traditional Chinese opera and conferences. The high-tech stage design will give audiences at close quarters a visual impact to intensify the art appeal.
