On May 2, there was not a cloud in the sky over Wudang Mountains, and tourists flocked to the scenic spots, wudangshan.gov.cn reported.
As of 15:00, Wudang had received 42,240 visitors and raked in 27.88 million yuan ($4.46 million), up 18.7 and 18.3 percent, respectively, year-on-year. There were 238 travel groups of 6,337 tourists, up 17.2 and 59.5 percent.
Good weather continued across Hubei province on the second day of the Labor Day holiday. There was a significant surge in passengers in and outside the province. They mostly came from Henan, Shaanxi, Hunan and Gansu provinces, and Wuhan, Yichang and Xiangfan cities. Most of the visitors were students and young families.
To avoid traffic jams during peak hours, the scenic spots worked closely with local public security and traffic departments and followed a well-prepared plan to ensure visitor safety. At the Golden Hall, the number of tourists was brought under control and tickets were sold at staggered times.
At the same time, the local administrative departments issued information about passenger flow, parking lots and evacuation on LED screens to guide tourists at the foot of the mountains.
A free kung fu performance at the tourist center and Xiaoyao Valley attracted many visitors. There were also cultural and tourism activities at Yuxu Palace, Wudang Mountains Museum, Wudang Mountains Geological Museum and the upstream scenic spot at Tai Chi Lake. They eased the operating pressure on the tourist attraction.
Tourist departments in the region gave up their holiday and worked extra hours to maintain order and offer services, creating a nice travel environment for tourists. Extra environment friendly vehicles were available to meet transportation needs.
The cableway department also took measures to control the number of visitors during peak hours to ensure safety. The whole scenic spot maintained an orderly and safe operation, with no tourist complaints and accidents reported.
