Wudang: a knockout at the Central China Travel Expo

Co-organized by the China National Tourism Administration, Hubei Provincial People’s Government, and Hubei provincial tourism administration, the seventh Central China Travel Expo was opened in Wuhan International Exhibition Center on May 18, and lasted for 3 days.
This year’s indoor exhibition covered an area of 15,000 square meters, with almost 1,000 booths and around 800 exhibitors of various kinds, including tourist attractions, travel agencies, hotels, transport companies, tourism media, enterprises of tourist commodities, tourism management and facilitation agencies and all kinds of new commercial companies.
Wang Guosheng, governor of Hubei province, visited the exhibition hall and listened to a report on the exhibition. Consul generals of the US, France and South Korea in Wuhan, along with some overseas representatives of traveling businesses, attended the opening ceremony.
Shen Xueqiang, vice-mayor of Shiyan city, and Yang Danhua, deputy director of the management committee of Wudang Mountains special zone, also attended with their groups. Wudang Mountains organized a delegation of nearly 100 people from restaurants, hotels, travel agencies, tourism commodities and tourist attractions and 200 volunteers to take part in this year’s exhibition.
The flyers distributed by the volunteers and the award-winning quiz at the scene attracted much participation of, and consultation with, visitors. The Wudang Mountains exhibition hall displayed Wudang culture, Tai Chi elements, classical imperial-style architectures, and high-quality tourism products from Wudang as well as martial arts.
As the grand finale of this event, the show of Wudang martial arts witnessed a full house for every performance. During the promotion of the exhibition, martial arts performances and award-winning quizzes were organized. Gifts included Wudang swords, Wudang wine and admission tickets to Wudang Mountains, etc.
The activities and awards attracted lots of interest, and some participants even ordered travel packages with some of the 20 travel agencies at the scene. The most special feature of this years’travel expo is the combination of exhibition and marketing. Anyone who orders and signs the travel packages at the scene can enjoy large discounts.
The Central China Travel Expo is the largest travel expo in Central China. Having successfully hosted six years’worth of expos, this event has attracted tourism institutions from dozens of countries and regions around the world to exhibit here, actively promoting the tourism development and market expansion of the central region.
