At the meeting, Li Faping said that overseas-Chinese cultural exchange bases provide a platform for cultural communication between China and abroad. They also promote Wudang culture.
The Wudang Mountains, as home of the Taoist shrine and the birthplace of kung fu, are recognized as a World Heritage Site by the United Nations. Throughout its history, Wudang culture has been greatly admired by overseas Chinese, especially in the case of Wudang kung fu. More than 10 counties worldwide have constructed Wudang Club Houses or Monasticism Centers, and over 100,000 people overseas practice Wudang kung fu. The Wudang Mountains will continue to contribute to cultural exchanges, Li said.
