Wudang kung fu arrives for Moscow City Day

Sept 6, Mid-Autumn Festival in China, also witnessed an important festival in Moscow, capital of Russia, thousands of kilometers away – Moscow City Day. On the morning of Sept 6, the opening ceremony of Moscow City Day was held in the Red Square. A Wudang kung fu delegation from China was invited to participate in a parade and perform as part of the celebration of the city’s 867th birthday.

At noon on the day, the parade and performance started at the most prosperous downtown area in Moscow. Delegations from more than 10 countries, including China, took part in the performance. The performance group spanned 2 km and attracted thousands of local residents along the road.
Members of the Wudang kung fu delegation, all in white and holding horsetail whisks in hand, received cheers and applause with their spectacular martial arts performance.

The city of Moscow, founded in 1147, has always been a symbol of Russia. The country makes the first weekend in every September Moscow City Day to celebrate the birth of the city. Prime Minister of Russia Dmitry Medvedev attended the opening ceremony of the festival on Sept 6. The city will hold hundreds of celebration activities during the holiday.
