Wudang Mountains stress aviation forest guard

A launch ceremony for the aviation forest guard took place in the Wudang Mountains, Hubei province, on Nov 20 in an effort to enhance the area's forest fire control. Government officials from Hubei province, Shiyan city and the Wudang Mountains attended the ceremony.

The aviation forest guard, a cutting-edge forest fire control unit, plays a key role in ecological promotion, forestry development and forest fire prevention. Managed by the Wudang Mountains aviation forest guard station, the first of its kind in Hubei, the helicopters are set to fly regularly over the mountains to prevent and control forest fires as well as protect the cultural heritages.

The local authorities have made Wudang's forest fire control a priority since the mountains boast a precious national forest park with breathtaking scenery and ancient architecture.
