An awards ceremony of the Wudang Martial Arts Association Pujiang Institute branch was held in Nanjing Tech University Pujiang Institute on Jan 9. The institute became the first college in China to popularize tai chi culture.
The Wudang martial arts group also gave performances at the first Students' Cultural Festival, winning endless applause and attracting many students to study tai chi.
Tai chi will be a compulsory course of the institute. Several elective courses on Wudang martial arts will be open. Thirteen physical teachers will go to the Wudang Mountains for training. During the summer holiday, the school will organize students to visit Wudang to study tai chi culture.
Xu Yaojin, director general of the Wudang martial arts bureau, was invited to deliver a speech. The Wudang Mountains are a world cultural heritage, and Wudang martial arts has promoted cultural exchange between China and the world, according to Xu.
