The week-long Spring Festival holiday saw over 177,000 tourists visit the Wudang Mountains in Shiyan, Hubei province, amounting to a total tourism revenue of 110 million yuan ($17.5 million). The number of tourists visiting the mountains is up by 27.77 percent on last year's figure while the total amount of tourism revenue generated is up by 30.56 percent. The results have given Wudang's tourism industry a good start to the year, succeeding both in tourism numbers and in social benefits.
Despite rainy and snowy conditions during the holiday period, visitors weren't deterred from visiting the mountains. Instead, many flocked to the area to appreciate the unique scenery of rime and glazed ice, a phenomenon that only occurs in freezing temperatures. Tourists also took pictures of Wudang's fascinating silver-coated scenery as a token of their visit.
Thanks to Wudang's efforts in tourism promotion, including the promotion of their tourism transportation and smart tourism platform, the tourism image of Wudang has been well established. Wudang is on course to becoming a top destination among tourists.
