Organizers of the Xiamen International Industrial Exposition reserved a sizable exhibition area for the robot and automation industry at this year's expo.

The four-day expo kicked off at the Xiamen International Convention and Exhibition Center in Xiamen, Fujian province on Tuesday and received a strong showing from the robotics industry.

Close to 100 major industrial players from across the world attended the fair to showcase robotics products and automation solutions.

Among the products displayed were quirky robots capable of write Chinese characters, playing Whac-A-Mole, pouring coffee and sorting rice grains.

Speaking at the event, an industry insider said that China will become the largest market for industrial robots in five to ten years.

An employee from Xiamen SIERT Robot Systems Co said that 24 robots will replace 70 workers on a production line and save up to 70 percent of work space in a factory. The employee also said that the industry has entered a fast-track and there will be more robots adopted in the streamline production in the coming years.
