The first man-made heavy snow in the Fantawild Resort in Tong'an district of Xiamen, Fujian province marked the beginning of the one-month Fantawild Ice and Snow Festival on Dec 2.
A romantic and majestic scene was created at the festival where dancing snowflakes are slowly falling down to the snow-wrapped ground, the roofs of windmill sheds, fake reindeers and sparkling crystal balls.
Large-scale snow landscapes, including Frozen and Secret Garden, dances staged by cartoon figures and neon lighting shows will be on display, and an outdoor ski resort will also make its debut during the festival.
Head of the resort introduced that the resort plans to invite Santa Claus from Santa Claus's Village in Finland, which is believed to be the most authentic one in the world to have a Merry Christmas with visitors on Dec 24.
Besides, a fancy countdown party will be held on Dec 31 during which numerous surprises are expected to be presented to the attendees.
Starting from Dec 16, the Fantawild Resort will extend its opening hours to 9 pm to give local residents more time to enjoy the special charm of the ice and snow world since they cannot enjoy such snow-covered landscape and play in the snow in their own city.
The Fantawild Resort in Xiamen is composed of three theme parks – Dreamland, Oriental Heritage, and Water Park where animations and movie stunts integrate with traditional Chinese culture and a large number of recreational projects are provided, including IMAX films, drifting adventures escaping from dinoisland, and original plays.
