A Kazak dance from the Kazak ethnic group was performed by staff from the Aibaike Embroidery Cooperative on May 9. The performance attracted large audiences at the Folk Art Festival, held in Huocheng county in the Xinjiang Uygur autonomous region.
Despite the performers not being professional dancers, many audience members remarked that they had done a good job at the stage and said they were impressed by Kazak dance.
The performers said that they cherished the opportunity to dance because they were looking forward to making good publicity of their cooperative through the art festival. In order to perform well at the stage, the group underwent extensive practice and the cooperative also invited professional dance teachers to tutor its employees.
Aibaike Embroidery Cooperative is an embroidery factory established by the Party committee of Huocheng county. Embroidery professionals are hired to manage the cooperative’s factory. The cooperative offers jobs to unemployed women of the Kazak ethnic group and has helped increase income levels among them.
A manager of the cooperative said that due to the lack of publicity, products of the cooperative were only known by some business partners and that the art festival provided a platform for the cooperative to publicize its products and expand its popularity in the town.
