Peking University held an enrollment campaign in Karamay, Xinjiang Uygur autonomous region, on Nov 15. It is the first time that the top university came to communicate with Karamay students face-to-face.
Sha Li, an admissions representative at Peking University, explained its history, philosophy, admission procedures, teacher resources, teaching mode and graduates' employment to the students in Karamay No 1 Middle School.
Sha said that as one of the top universities in China, Peking University is a desirable place for excellent students. After learning about the performances of Karamay students in national mathematics, chemistry and physics competitions, Peking University decided to hold admission campaigns here to attract more Karamay students.
Yu Huiping, vice-director of Karamay's education bureau, said Karamay used to be a remote and inaccessible city where students were not familiar with outside universities. Peking University's enrollment campaign affirmed the city’s achievements in education and also helped students widen their horizons.
