The Golden Jade, a five-episode documentary series, was aired for the first time on channel-1 of Karamay TV at 22:00 on Dec 22.
The documentary summarizes the jade's geological formation process, its distribution and carving design, and the global business involving it. The movie also shows the history, culture and custom of Karamay city, a place abounding with the precious stone.
The Golden Jade was conceived by the publicity department of the Karamay Oilfield Party Committee and shot by the Karamay Broadcast and Television Center. The film crew spent several months and traveled for 20,000 kilometers in Xinjiang to finish the movie.
In recent years, documentaries have become increasingly popular. Chinese audiences are now more eager to gain rational and scientific knowledge about society than before.
Karamay has so far been the subject of two documentaries, namely The Oil and Gas World of Karamay and The Golden Jade. Both have showcased the city's cultural, geographical and social changes and helped people understand Karamay more deeply.
