China launched a comprehensive big data website (www.bigdataobor.com) on Feb 26 to promote the Belt and Road Initiative.

The launch marked the beginning of provision of integrated information services to the public by China's Belt and Road Big Data Center, located in Karamay.

The big data center was established in December 2015 with the joint efforts of the State Information Center, the Karamay government and IZP Technology Group, a Beijing-based big data company. It provides diversified, tailored and visual big data products and services to countries and regions involved in the Belt and Road Initiative.

Proposed by President Xi Jinping in 2013, the Belt and Road Initiative (the Silk Road Economic Belt and the 21st Century Maritime Silk Road) – an ambitious plan to revitalize the ancient Silk Road overland and maritime trade routes linking East and West – has attracted considerable attention.
