Xinjiang University (XJU) in Urumqi, capital of Xinjiang Uygur autonomous region, will enhance cooperation with Karamay city in petrochemical engineering and machine manufacturing, Karamay Daily reported.
XJU sent a delegation led by its vice president Nurshet Zumash to Karamay to discuss scientific and technological cooperation matters on March 23.
Zumash outlined XJU's achievements in scientific research and experience in cooperation with local enterprises, and expressed willingness to cooperate with the Karamay government, especially the technology authorities, with the view of building a bridge between academic institutions and enterprises.
Scholars from XJU also held discussions with Karamay's government officials and business representatives to learn about their difficulties in scientific and technological innovation that demanded prompt solutions.
Tong Zhonghua, a member of the Karamay's leading Party group, said at the meeting that cooperation between Karamay and XJU is mutually beneficial. "The cutting-edge technologies brought by XJU will significantly improve Karamay enterprises' production efficiency, while the industrial bases in Karamay will boost the commercialization of research findings," Tong said. "The brain trust from XJU will also help cultivate innovative talents in high-tech fields in Karamay."
