Air China's scheduled flights from Karamay to Beijing increased from four to seven times a week on March 27, enabling people to travel between Karamay and Beijing every day.
The new flights, featuring a Boeing 738 aircraft, will depart from Karamay at 7:15 pm every Friday and at 7:40 pm on the other days. The flight will take less than four hours. The return flights will depart from Beijing at 9:45 am every day and arrive in Karamay at 2:10 pm.
The Karamay government will continue to reimburse passengers from certain cities and counties surrounding Karamay for their transport expenses between home and Karamay Airport to encourage them to travel from the airport. The benefited cities are Dushanzi, Kuitun, Wusu, Shawan, Tacheng, Emin, Tuoli, Hefeng, Altay, Beitun and Fuhai.
Currently, airlines from Karamay Airport have flights to Beijing, Chengdu, Urumqi, Yining and Kuerle. More than 136,400 travelers traveled from Karamay Airport last year, up 56.8 percent compared to 2014.
