Deputy Director of the Shanghai Civil Affairs Bureau Zhou Jingbo visited two volunteer experts from Shanghai to support Karamay in the "Talented Senior Program" at the Karamay No 2 People's Hospital on June 25.
The two specialists from Shanghai were Ma Jingmei, associate chief physician of the gynaecology and obstetrics department of Shanghai Tongkang Hospital, and Hua Xiong, associate chief physician of the stomatology department from Shanghai No 6 People Hospital’s Jinshan Branch.
Since 2009, Shanghai has carried out the "Talented Senior Program" in which Shanghai continuously sends volunteers to Karamay to support the city's medical services and tutor local medical staff.
Up to 2016, more than 30 senior volunteers have come to Karamay, engaging in the fields of traditional Chinese medicine, gynaecology, internal medicine and stomatology.
The visiting group led by Zhou Jingbo also visited the Heiyoushan Apartment for the Elderly, where they spoke highly of Karamay’s endowment pattern which integrates medical care and intelligent management. They gave suggestions for further improvement.
Liu Gang, head of the Karamay tourism bureau, said the “Talented Senior Program” has contributed to Karamay’s medical care service and the local government will try its best to provide better living and working environments for the Shanghai experts.
