Teachers from primary and middle schools in Karamay city of Xinjiang Uygur autonomous region turned in a good performance at the 6th teaching informatization competition, said the organizing committee on July 10.
The competition was expected to improve teachers’ IT ability so they can be more effective in using computers in education.
Primary, secondary and high school teachers submitted their works accordingly and were divided into three groups based on different language skills in Mandarin, local ethnic languages or bilingual ability.
The competition focused on courseware (IT based educational materials), examples of information technology (IT) education, teaching plans and education teaching resource application.
After several rounds of tests and expert reviews, nine Karamay teachers including Zhong Dongwei won the first prize in courseware and course examples, 38 teachers won second and third prizes and 105 teachers were recognized with excellence awards.
Information-based education is a necessary step in establishing a modern educational system in China, and the informatization of basic education has become a part of Chinese education reforms.
