China National Petroleum Corporation (CNPC) Data Center (Karamay) will begin trial operations this March before becoming fully operational in July, local media reported on Feb 22.
Located in Karamay’s new administrative district, the data center achieves T4, the highest level according to Telecommunications Infrastructure Standard for Data Centers.
With a total of 18 IT modules, the data center is comprised of 2543 network units and will be equipped with around 20,000 servers. The center has 13 high-performance support systems that are protected from power cuts, security breaches, and fire. Currently, 99.99 percent of the center’s storage remains available.
Once fully operation, it will serve as a data storage center, network control center, and technical support center for Xinjiang Oilfield Company.
Chen Xinfa, secretary of Karamay municipality Party committee, believes the center will provide important regional technical support.
“Xinjiang Oilfield Company should carefully finish the construction of CNPC’s data center in Karamay to support CNPC’s further development,” he said.
