The Urumqi State High-tech Industrial Development Zone has the largest number of conglomerate company headquarters in the Xinjiang Uygur autonomous region. Many large companies such as China National Petroleum Corporation and Sinopec Group set up their Xinjiang headquarters in the zone.

The zone prioritizes the improvement of services related to software, information, engineering technology, consultancy, laws and investment. The zone is aiming to construct an information industrial park and an industrial accelerator to become a modern service industrial base.
