Urumqi will invest in excess of five billion yuan ($767.05 million) into improving its urban environment over the course of this year.

The money will be used to revamp some of the city’s parks, including Hongshan Park, Tianshan Animal Park and Liyu Mount Park.

Approximately 100 small parks and six greenways under construction and will be completed in November.

A double-layered greenhouse will be built at the Urumqi Botanic Garden to accommodate 2,800 square meters of bonsai. Exclusive rose, chrysanthemum and peony gardens are also under construction in the botanic garden.
