A Kazakhstan media delegation visited the Economic and Technological Development Zone in Urumqi city on Nov 12, one of the stops on their Xinjiang tour from Nov 11-17.
The visiting group was shown around the local exhibition hall where they were introduced to the industrial pattern of the development zone. The group also paid a field visit to Xinjiang Software Park.

Many journalists spoke highly of the software park in that more than 120 enterprises have applied for settling there and the park's operation revenue exceeded one billion yuan ($160 million) in 2014, producing more than 20 million yuan of tax revenue.
A journalist from Alma-Ata said that she was amazed by the number of enterprises and extent of e-commerce development in Xinjiang Software Park and added that "I will try my best to cover stories in Xinjiang and tell more people about this place."

Journalists were interested in Xinjiang Weiletao IT Co, which is located in the software park and is engaged in the e-commerce trade between China and Kazakhstan. Established in April, 2015, the company sells Chinese handicrafts and tourism products to Russia and Kazakhstan through the Internet, and also imports foreign products for domestic customers.
The company has established a multilingual e-commerce platform useable in Chinese, Russian and Kazak and will expand its market in Central Asia, the president of the company said. The chief editor of the Kazakhstan national television station, who was visiting Urumqi for the first time, said that he was impressed by the development zone and was looking forward to having more chances to visit Urumqi.

The media delegates invited by the Chinese embassy in Kazakhstan included journalists from Alma-Ata's and Astana's newspaper offices and television stations.
