Urumqi's development zone to invest 3.5b yuan in infrastructure

The Economic and Technological Development Zone in Urumqi city, Xinjiang Uygur autonomous region will invest 3.5 billion yuan ($542.9 million) to complete 91 infrastructure projects, the local construction bureau announced on March 28, the uetd.gov.cn reported.

The 91 infrastructure projects are located in the high-speed railway district, the international trade and logistics center and Bainiaohu New District.

The Xinjiang Tianshan Cloud Computing Industrial Base is one of the projects under construction. Its first-stage, with 20 million yuan of investment, includes the construction of three roads.

Feng Yongbo, who is in charge of the project, said that the road construction was started in September of last year and is expected to be finished in July. He added that the underground utilities have been completed.

The development zone also plans to build eight streets this year to improve road conditions.

All 91 projects are currently underway, said Song Xinyan, vice director of the management center of construction projects.
