The Unity New Village Community in Toutunhe District in Urumqi city, Xinjiang Uygur autonomous region, recently hosted a wall painting activity with a theme of "ethnic unity and religious and social harmony". The activity has attracted many locals, the uetd.gov.cn reported.

The community already has one 50 meter-long wall painting created by Wang Jinming, a staff member of the Toutunhe's tourism bureau. Wang's painting expresses the idea that people yearn for better lives.

Wall painting activity creates a positive and healthy cultural atmosphere, and shows off colorful ethnic cultures, said Zeng Bo, the head of the community service group.

Zeng noted that the activity also restores the broken walls.
