Xinjiang Uygur autonomous region will hold its first e-sports competition in July, with the winning team going on to represent Xinjiang at the National Electronic Sports City Championships (NECC).
Yu Shengwei, secretary general of Xinjiang’s sports federation, said the competition will be divided into two parts, an e-sports tournament and a mobile game carnival.
On June 27, an opening ceremony of Xinjiang’s the e-sports competition was held at Wanda Plaza in the Urumqi Economic and Development Zone.
Chen Yubo, chairman of the organizing committee, expressed his desire for Xinjiang to become a model for the country’s e-sports industry and foster innovation in science and information technology.
