The "Yunnan Dianchi Pan-Asia Art Festival" opened on July 25 in Kunming, capital city of southwest China's Yunnan Province, with the goal of strengthening cultural exchanges between China and other Asian countries and advancing economic cooperation.
The one-week arts festival is expected to hold an exhibition on Yunnan's intangible cultural heritage, an art performance by Asian countries and a forum about setting up a better media cooperation network is also on the agenda.
In addition, experts and participants from India, Indonesia and Bangladesh called for further cooperation with Yunnan Province in roads, railways, waterways, airlines, pipelines and electric power systems.
Kunming, as the key component in Yunnan`s aggressive campaign to project a global image, has become an important window through which it reaches the rest of the world and in turn, the world can have a better understanding of local cultures.
