Yunnan boosts 45.09 percent on overseas investment

In the first five months, Yunnan province approved eight new companies for foreign investment. Yunnan companies attracted direct investments in 46 enterprises from 14 countries and regions, with a cumulative investment worth 243.56 million U.S. dollars, up 45.09 percent year on year, according to the commerce department of Yunnan province. By the end of May, Yunnan had 317 companies make direct foergin investments, with 10.092 billion U.S. dollars in investment treaties and 1.572 billion U.S. dollars in actual investments.
Stimulated by booming overseas direct investment, Yunnan has made new progress in overseas contract projects. In the first five months, the province signed nine overseas contract project agreements, valued at 750 million U.S. dollars, up 39.6 percent year on year. They had 380 million U.S. dollars in the volume of business, up 11.04 percent. The projects were mainly related to electric power, transportation construction and housing construction.
Yunnan province recently concluded the preliminary examination of special funds application for national foreign economic cooperation projects for 2011, and submitted it to higher authority for approval. Five companies of the province, with seven projects, passed the application requirements. They included four investment interest subsidies projects, one investment proto-phase project, and two contract interest subsidies projects.
