Laos becomes Yunnan’s second investment market

The 5th session of China Yunnan - Northern Laos was held at Louang Namtha of the Lao People's Democratic Republic on Sep 12 and 13.

Both parties have come to an agreement on unearthing cooperative potentials, broadening cooperative territory and enriching achievements:

I. Exchanges between the two countries should be further enhanced, for example, more student exchanges;

II. Investment and trade cooperation should be further expanded, especially the construction of Mohan China – Moding Laos Transnational Economic Cooperation Area;

III. Traffic convenience should be further promoted. Specifically, the construction of the bridge over Mekong River from Houy Xay Laos to Chiang Khong Thailand, as part of Kunming-Bangkok Highway. Also, the cooperation and exchange mechanism between the ports in Yunnan China and northern Laos should be strengthened;

IV. New cooperation territory will be further developed, particularly in the respects of logistics, transportation, high and new technology and environment protection, etc;

V. Cooperative mechanism should be further improved and implemented. The regular and irregular exchanges on cooperative mechanism should be established.
