The department of commerce and the cultural industry office of Yunnan province hosted a "Yunnan Day" — a key highlight promotion event for its cultural industry, as well as a group of key projects that welcomed investment from both China and abroad at the third China (Beijing) International Fair for Trade in Services (CIFTIS), or Beijing Fair, on May 30.
It was part of the province's participation in the first comprehensive event for trade in services in Beijing, which is held annually in the city from May 28 to June 1. Yunnan took part in all kinds of activities — exhibitions, forums, conferences and trade negotiations, occupying an exhibition area of 75 square meters.
The exhibition showcased its going-global process of its arts and culture and the cutting-edge industries and leading enterprises in the cultural and creative sector, aiming to attract more investment for the province.
As a province with the highest number of ethnic groups among all provinces and autonomous regions in China, Yunnan is recognized for its ethnic diversity and unique cultures, which brought a chance for the province to develop into a bridgehead for China's gateway to the southwest, said Zhu Fei, deputy director of the province's department of commerce, on the Yunnan-themed Day.
