Kunming Municipal Government recently decided to make all public toilets free of charge.

It also decided to build more public toilets, which will be within 15 minutes’ walking distance from one another.

By 2020, the city will construct 1626 new public toilets and renovate 1950 existing toilets, with the focus on food markets and tourist spots. By 2017, construction goal should be 80 percent finished.

The government will give subsidies for new public toilets at the county and village level based on their scale.
