The federation of trade unions in Kunming Hi-Tech Industries Development Zone has been strengthening workers' rights protection since the beginning of 2014. The rights protection applies to the following aspects.

First, make sure that all the trade unions in the zone sign collective contracts concerning wages with enterprises, especially those with more than 25 employees. By doing so, the federation of trade unions can safeguard employees' economic rights and interests with the help of laws.

Second, cooperate with trade unions and labor law enforcement agencies to deal with labor disputes. After understanding the actual situation of enterprises and employees, the federation can resolve conflicts properly and lawfully.

Third, donate law books to trade unions such as Contract Law and Labor Contract Law to improve primary-level workers' ability to act legally.

The federation of trade unions in the zone has dealt with 11 rights protection cases, the amount of money involved exceeding 1.25 million yuan ($201,000).
