To improve the environment in Kunming and to make Kunming a world-class tourism city, the industrial and commercial bureau in the Kunming Hi-Tech Zone recently examined and renovated the agricultural products markets in the area under its administration.
The examination and renovation works started before the National Day holiday; and the government emphasized the following tasks to improve the environment of local markets.
First, strengthen publicity. The industrial and commercial bureau hung posters in all the markets and sent out brochures to promote integrity and credibility among vendors.
Second, strengthen food hygiene supervision and improve management in the markets by clearly assigning responsibilities. Directors of the industrial and commercial bureau required the managers of markets to solve problems found during earlier examinations including waste collection, booth arrangement, road sweeping and security, or the markets would be ordered to suspend operations for rectification.
Third, strengthen law enforcement efforts. Since Sept 29, more than 30 law enforcement officers were sent to inspect measuring instruments, evacuation exits, and booth arrangements in the markets under administration and to rectify the situations that didn’t meet the requirements on the spot.
