Star and Long March, a new international warehousing and logistics port with an investment of 2 billion yuan ($330 million) is going to start operations in December. The port is the main project of the Kunming International Inland Port and Yunnan’s biggest international warehousing and logistics port.

The port is located in Kunming’s economic and technological development zone. It includes a 700,000-square-meter warehouse. It will provide customers with high quality supply chain service. The supply chain platform will contain elements of logistics operation, logistics service, logistics information system and financial services for logistics.

Also, Star and Long March will cooperate with the Kunming Joint Logistics Chamber of Commerce to provide customers with door-to-door delivery services. The services will cover 16 cities, autonomous prefectures and 129 counties in Yunnan province.

According to the logistics specialist, Star Long March is suitable as a company regional distribution center (RDC). It will have a positive effect on Yunnan’s logistics industry. Meanwhile, it can also serve as a central distribution center (CDC) to better connect Yunnan’s local companies with companies in other provinces, Southeast Asia and South Asia. The port will become an important logistics connection between Yunnan province and other places.

“In the guidance of China’s ‘one belt, one road’ strategy, Star Long March will take advantage of the international trade logistics park and fully function as an inland port to promote cooperation between Yunnan, South Asia and Southeast Asia,” said Chen Qingzhong, president of China Yunnan Star Long March Investment and Development Holding Group.
