The 10th K2K Economic Cooperation Forum was held in Kunming from Nov 24 to 26. Zhao Xiaoping, vice-director of the administrative committee of the Kunming Hi-Tech Zone, was invited on the first day and gave a speech to present the Zone and attract foreign investment.

During the session, Zhao outlined the geographical advantages, emerging ecological industries and support policies for innovative enterprises to the Indian guests. Zhao’s presentation aroused their interest and they decided immediately to visit the Zone.

The Indian delegation came to the Zone the next day in the hope of finding out more about it. They visited several enterprises within the Zone, including the Sunpa Technology Co, a digital medical equipment manufacturer, and Longrun Group, one of the biggest biological resource developers in China.

The K2K Forum started in 2002 and has been held in turn by the two Ks, namely Kunming, the capital of Yunnan province, and Kolkata, the West Bengal capital, also known as Calcutta. The forum aims to enhance interprovincial cooperation between Southwest China and India’s northeastern states.
