2014 Hi-Tech Zone students' sports meeting opens

The 2014 Kunming Hi-Tech Zone students' sports meeting took place on Dec 5 and 6. Nearly 300 athletes from seven primary and secondary schools within the Zone participated in the event.

An athletes' parade opened the sports meeting, in which they gave various marching performances, including a marching band, cowboy dance and cheer dance.

Altogether 16 field and track events were organized during the two-day event, featuring both competition and entertainment. Finally, the first prize of the primary school teams, middle school teams and high school teams went to Hi-Tech No 4 Primary School, No 3 Middle School and No 1 High School respectively.

The sports meeting was organized by the Zone's bureau of culture, education, sports and tourism and was aimed at stimulating students' enthusiasm for sports and encouraging them to do exercise more often so as to improve their physical fitness.

Present at the sports event were Zhao Shujun, vice-director of the administrative committee, Zhu Yongsheng, director of the bureau of culture, education, sports and tourism and other officials of the Zone. They spoke highly of the students' spirits and their good performances in the competitions and said the Zone would pay more effort to ensure students' all-around development.
