Ten Internet users took part in "Career Day" activities, held by the Kunming Hi-Tech Zone, to experience the city management officers' daily work on Dec 19.

In the early morning, the ten participants came to the Digital City Management Center within the Zone to study workflow and working methods. After that, they wore uniforms and followed officers to work.

The team went to Xiyuan Overpass Community, at the junction of the Hi-Tech Zone, Xishan District and Wuhua District. The net users handed out leaflets calling for good behavior while running a business.

The major problem in the community was roadside stall businesses, which result in traffic congestion and pollution. Although the participants tried to persuade the owners to set their stalls in defined areas only, the vendors came back as soon as the officers left.

"It was tiring! I don’t know how to deal with these stubborn vendors. It was too difficult," said a participant.

The career day was aimed at making more people understand how difficult the city management officers' work is and raising their awareness to protect the city's environment and regulations.

"I used to judge city management officers with prejudice, thinking that they are rude and unreasonable. Now I find that it is not true. They do their best to provide a good environment for us. We should thank them for their efforts and respect their work."

After the experience, participants also gave some advice to officers on how to better manage and persuade the business owners, who were not willing to obey the rules.
