An environmental impact assessment meeting was held on Dec 24 by Kunming Environmental Assessment Center, where the review group approved the construction of an advanced materials technology center in the Kunming Hi-Tech Zone.

The advanced materials technology center is a cooperative project invested in by Guangdong Helenbergh Estate Group and Kunfeng New Technology Co, with a total investment reaching 750 million yuan ($120 million), including more than 3 million yuan invested in environmental protection. Aiming to integrate R&D, exhibitions, business incubators and commercial services of advanced technology industries, the center is projected to be completed in 2016.

The partnership between Helenbergh Estate and the Kunming Hi-Tech Zone was established at the 10th Pan Pearl River Delta Regional Cooperation and Development Forum and Economic and Trade Fair in October in Guangzhou, Guangdong province. The two sides paid great attention to the environmental impact while promoting the development of the project's construction and finally made the project go through an environmental impact assessment.

The environmental impact assessment is a necessary procedure before a new project starts its construction. The review group carefully examines the impact that the project may leave on the air, water and soil and other elements including noise and radiation. Only having passing the assessment can a project get permission to start work.
