A dragon and lion dance competition took place in Kunming, the capital of Yunnan province, on March 4. The teams from the Kunming Hi-Tech Zone stood out with their successful performances.

More than 40 teams from all over Kunming participated in the competition to celebrate the Lantern Festival Day, the 15th day of the first lunar month, marking the end of the Spring Festival celebration.

Teams from the Zone displayed their dancing skills. Colorful lions and dragons jumped up and down in accordance with the beating of music and drums, cheering up the crowds.

In the final stage, the dragon dance team of the Zone won the first prize, and the lion team became the second runner-up.

Dragon and lion dance is a form of traditional dance and performance in Chinese culture, often performed for festival celebrations. A group of dancers manipulate a long flexible figure of a dragon or a lion and dance.
