Yunnan province held a tourism exchange activity with Laos on March 17 in Kunming city, with 30 representatives from Laos' tourism bureau taking part.

The two sides first exchanged opinions on how to develop tourism products, the relationship between the tourism economy and marketing, and the features of modern tourism.

The participants then took a tour to a number of famous scenic spots, such as Fuxian Lake and Folkways Village.

Duan Yuqing, director of the province's Tourism Development Committee, explained that the event was expected to improve the communication between Yunnan and Laos in developing tourism between the two places and to promote the province's tourism industry.

Located in Southwest China, Yunnan province is rich in tourism resources. And, since the Kunming is an important city along the southern Silk Road – which stretches beyond Middle East – the cooperation with Laos will help drive the tourism economy in Southeast Asia.
