The play is a depiction of a love story between Songzain Gambo, the king of the Tibetan Regime in ancient China, and Princess Wenchang from the Tang Dynasty (AD 618-907).

Comprising of seven scenes, the play traces the friendly relations between the Han and Tibetan ethnic groups through performances of dance, song, acrobatics and magic tricks.

To demonstrate the height of prosperity in the Tang Dynasty, the performers wore splendid customs and put on the play against the backdrops of blue skies, clear waters, lush prairies and blossoming rape plants. The backdrops were created by the use of videos on large screen projections and other advanced technologies.
