The choruses of schools based in the Kunming Hi-Tech Zone have won first prizes in a number of categories in a choral competition at the 26th Kunming Student Art Festival on May 15.

The Kunming Hi-Tech Zone sent five choruses to participate in the competition. They impressed the audience and judges with their “excellent singing skills, deep emotion and high spirits”, according to the Kunming bureau of culture and education.

The choruses of the Kunming Hi-Tech No 1 Primary School and the Kunming Hi-Tech No 2 Middle School respectively won the first prizes in their categories. Other choruses from the Zone were also rated highly.

The choral competition, whose main theme was “growing in the sunshine”, was aimed at promoting the development of music education and the upcoming China-South Asia Expo to be held in Kunming in June. School choruses from the Kunming Hi-Tech Zone, Kunming National Economic Development Zone and Dianchi Lake Resort Zone took part in the competition.
