There is a mountain called Jingmai Mountain in Pu'er, where the Bulang and Dai peoples lived in compact communities. "Qiannian Wanmu Old Tea Garden" and the mountain forest and village reflect the long farming history and mystery of Pu'er. A story is circulated among the Bulang people about how Pa Aileng, their ancestor, led his tribe in transforming the mountain into a big tea garden. Pa Aileng wrote the following teachings before he died: "I cannot leave you horses and cows, they would die from disasters; I cannot leave you money and treasure, because you will use them up. I leave you the tea trees, so your descendants will never use them up…" These teachings have become an old folk song passed down for generations. The Bulang people will offer a sacrifice to their ancestors every April to worship the 1000-year-old tea tree and pray to the ancestors for peace and prosperity.
