Pu'er came away with the "National Environmental Sanitation City" title from the 2015 national urban and rural environmental sanitation meeting in Ma'an Shan, Anhui province, on March 24.
During the conference 73 cities, including Pu'er, were awarded the title of "National Environmental Sanitation City" for the period of 2012-2014.
According to the Pu'er government, it is the second honor that the city has won, after it was awarded the honorary title of "National Garden City" on Jan 14, 2014.
In 2014, the government made it a requirement for the city of Pu'er to focus on environmental protection to ensure the stability and protection of the area's ecological environment.
Building a sanitary city demonstrates a city's comprehensive strength, development level, degree of civilization and level of health and well-being.
