A coffee tasting training session was held in the city of Pu'er in Southwest China's Yunnan province from July 13-17, according to Pu'er Daily.
Students from different countries and regions, including the US, India, Malaysia and Hong Kong, gathered in Pu’er to attend the session.
The coffee tasting training session was organized by Green House Coffee Yunnan, a cooperative partner of the Coffee Quality Institute (CQI) in China.
The training session focused on the theoretical knowledge such as the coffee tasting system. The system was developed to implement a coffee tasting standard acceptable to coffee growers, coffee makers and coffee tasters.
The coffee production area in Pu'er had reached 50,466 hectares by 2014, producing 39,000 tons of coffee worth 1.2 billion yuan ($194 million).
The quality of coffee in the area and the city's large production area has helped Pu’er develop itself into a major coffee trading hub. To further the trade of coffee, Pu'er has helped to promote the development of the coffee industry in surrounding countries such as Myanmar and Laos.
