Pu'er city's Party chief, Wei Xing, recently visited veterans who fought during the Chinese People's War of Resistance against Japanese Aggression, according to the Pu'er Daily Newspaper.
"Without your fight, Pu'er would not have the peace and prosperity it has today. Your great efforts are our country's valuable wealth," said Wei, as he paid tribute to war hero Wang Jian.
Wang, 92-year-old veteran, was originally from Shanxi Province. He joined the army when he was only 22.
During the visit, Wei asked Wang about his current daily life and physical condition. After learning that Wang had received good care, Wei expressed his happiness.
"Pu'er is now at an important stage of realizing its leap forward in development. The Party members should learn and carry forward the veterans' spirit to make more contributions to the city's development," said Wei Xing.
